We Need To Act To Eliminate The Strangle Hold Of Oil - Is Ethanol The Right Fuel Alternative?

By: qualitytw

There are other technologies for alternative fuels out there that works! There is knowledge. The government knows and the oil industry knows. We could have been using other alternative energy years ago. But the politicians and money hungry corporations in the oil industry has squashed efforts in the past. Now is the time to fight back and change the direction! WE can have a voice to change our politicians viewpoint. George Bush is starting the nation to the right direction in hybrid car manufacturing. But there is still more that can be done with the other technology! The western nations need to act now as a matter of national security. The oil rich nations have a strangle hold on us all.

Is Ethanol the right choice?

Ethanol and other bio-fuels are detrimental to the world food supply and the environment. There are still other alternatives than ethanol.

For more information on how the ethanol may not be as beneficial to the environment please refer to the link below within the resource box from an article in "New Scientist environment".

I find it interesting that the article points towards the Brazilian rainforest being cleared out in order to plant soya beans for bio-fuels. Therefore, this of all the the places in the world is the wrong place to start planting soya beans. It seems backwards. Also, interesting that corn can produces twice as much as carbon than petrol emissions. Sure, using ethanol will reduce the petrol consumption overall but has a reverse effect on the greenhouse gas emissions creating more carbon emissions. By removing forests that produce favorable gases to protect and prevent global warming doesn't seem right. This is an amazing revelation that the world leaders, car industry leaders and oil industry leaders need to be aware and caution of pursuing ethanol too fast before it is too late for the environment.

Obviously, corn in the US is being segregated for fuel more often than for food, because it is more lucrative for the farmers. As a manager for a major food company, we are already seeing very high spikes in corn syrup prices. Thereby, raising candy prices for the consumers. Peanuts are getting much more expensive because the farmers in Texas prefer to plant corn instead of peanuts for a more lucrative offer from ethanol manufacturing plants. Prices of consumable goods will raise! Economy will be affected and eventually not enough food to feed not only the 3rd world countries but industrial countries as well. Assuming bio-fuels and ethanol continue to take off and are endorsed by governments as the only way to go.

What else is there?

There are other technologies such as hydrogen powered (dangerous for now), electrical, water hybrid or solar power. These I think can be feasible but require spending and research from auto industry to implement.

Another quicker method that bases its technology on splitting water on board a vehicle, and using the resulting Hydrogen and Oxygen gases NOT to drive the vehicle - but to boost the efficiency of its gasoline combustion. Maybe double the gas mileage. Obviously, it is note possible to run a car on 100% water. There is a lot of free and/or low cost information on the internet to modify your car to perform this technology, fairly cheaply. Those are some other alternatives that I believe will work.

You owe it to yourself, the economy and the world to find out how!
